Embracing Food Safety at the Production Line 24/7

09/05/2023 12:05 - 12:35

Timely pathogen risk management is critical as they can be introduced at any stage in the supply chain. Once introduced, they either persist or grow to put consumers at risk. Traditionally, standard microbiology testing is time-consuming and laborious, requiring specialized personnel and equipment. Samples taken from the production line and sent to either an in-house or external laboratory can take several days for results.

The introduction of new rapid testing technologies enables a shift towards decentralizing accountability and action to the line, reimagining food safety by placing the responsibility of food safety in the hands of those closest to the process. The Swiss-made N-LightTM screening platform was developed with exactly that in mind, enabling almost real-time monitoring of potential risks directly at the production line.

In this presentation, NEMIS presents the growing N-LightTM portfolio with the most recent data from field studies, which demonstrate the effectiveness of the technology detecting pathogens such as L. monocytogenes and Salmonella in complex production environments. The results showcase that the rapid tests provide accurate and reliable results within 24 hours, making it an ideal solution for rapid testing directly at the production lines. While the technology can be used without requiring a laboratory infrastructure, NEMIS will also discuss validated protocols that use the platform to optimize existing laboratory workflows.
